Engineering, design, & architecture:

Admissions & academic mentoring

I’m an Imperial College London Design Engineering graduate and practising engineer, with six years of experience teaching and mentoring students aged 16–18. I have helped over 200 students, with a 100% success rate for university (including foundation years, and a majority to Oxbridge + Imperial).

Alongside my full time work as an environmental engineer in the architectural space in London, I mentor and tutor a small number of students privately, specialising in engineering university admissions, interview preparation, academic projects and research mentoring.

I don’t provide traditional subject tutoring. I help students develop the confidence to think through unfamiliar problems, communicate technical ideas clearly, explore their interests in engineering, and build strong applications grounded in curiosity. My services are detailed below:

University admissions

Individual support for students applying to engineering and related courses at universities including Imperial College London, Oxford, Cambridge, UCL and other leading UK universities.

Sessions can cover:

  • University and course selection

  • Developing an admissions strategy

  • Personal statement and application guidance

  • Engineering interview preparation

  • Mock interviews and detailed feedback

  • Exploring engineering disciplines and identifying academic interests

  • Developing wider reading, projects and other super curricular activities

Interview prep

Engineering interviews often test how a student approaches an unfamiliar problem rather than whether they immediately know the answer.

I work through technical and conceptual problems with students, helping them become more comfortable thinking aloud, responding to prompts, making assumptions and communicating their reasoning clearly.

Mock interviews can be followed by detailed feedback and recommendations for further preparation.

Research & hands-on projects

I mentor students undertaking independent engineering, architecture, sustainability and design-related research and projects. This can include EPQs, research papers, independent projects and summer research.

Support can cover:

  • Developing and refining a research question

  • Literature reviews and academic research

  • Research methodology

  • Engineering and design thinking

  • Practical hands on projects (3D modelling, CAD, physical prototyping both lo-fi and hi-fi)

  • Data analysis and interpretation

  • Design softwares such as Figma, Canva, and preparing students for use with Adobe suite

  • Presenting and communicating research

My aim is to guide the research and engineering design process while ensuring that the work and ideas remain entirely the student's own.
