This report presents a case study of an atypical residence on the outskirts of Columbia, Missouri USA. Given the particularities of the exterior and interior conditions of this home, not to mention the particularities of the sole occupier, Michael Lee Robins (MLR), the opportunity presented itself as a valuable environmental design and engineering activity.

The document will present the history of Columbia Missouri (CoMo) and present day demographics, economic and climate data, and cover a brief history and characterisation of the site before moving into the analyses.

A full site survey was conducted in early December of 2025 and photographs are included in the report along with sketched plans, sections, elevations, and a 3D model in both Rhino and IES software.

All calculations and models are informed by interviews with the owner and resident, MLR, as well as my own experience living in this home for 3 nights and 4 days in December 2025. I have used weather data from a local station (Wunderground) to compare outdoor conditions with readings from a data logger (Elitech RC 51H) as well as spot measurements for air temperature and lux levels.
