SIR Model: COVID19

I am by no means a mathematician, and I am by no means taking credit for this model or the content of my notes, however, my math professor took two lectures last week to walk us through a popular epidemiological model – one that is being used around the world as you read this with our very own coronavirus. I found it interesting, surprisingly easy to come to terms with, and oddly comforting. I urge you, especially if you are overwhelmed by the information overload of COVID-19 to approach the pandemic in this educational way. This SIR model only requires essential calculus tools, such as differential equations, to manipulate, and even better, it doesn’t require any calculus to look at and understand. If my notes prove completely underwhelming, check out this cool YouTuber’s video on it.
